Yay, it's World Penguin Day!
Penguin fans across the world rejoice, because April 25th is World Penguin Day. Although native to the southern hemisphere, penguins are loved around the globe. So to celebrate, why not check in on some penguins from around the world?Take a glimpse into the everyday lives of penguins with these live webcams.
Vancouver Aquarium -- British Columbia, Canada
African penguins waddle and swim in a habitat that resembles their natural home.
Folly Farm -- Pembrokeshire, Wales
Pop in at 11am and 2pm British Summer Time (GMT in the winter) for feeding time with the Humboldt penguins.
Aquarium of the Pacific -- California, United States
Three different webcams give a bird's eye view of Magellanic penguins waddling, swimming, and nesting. There's even a penguin guide so you can keep track of who's who.
Dublin Zoo -- Dublin, Ireland
A rotating camera gives a view of the zoo's playful Humboldt penguin colony. Tune in for feeding time at 2:30pm Irish Standard Time (GMT in the winter).
Edinburgh Zoo -- Edinburgh, Scotland
Gentoo, King, and Northern Rockhopper penguins can be seen on two different webcams. If you're lucky you might even get a glimpse of the famous Brigadier Sir Nils Olav!
German Antarctic Receiving Station, Antarctica
Four static webcams are updated roughly every fifteen minutes, giving a glimpse of wild penguins in their natural habitat (if a blizzard doesn't set in!)
Finally, don't forget to visit the twitter account for Shedd Aquarium in Chicago, USA to see clips of the resident penguins exploring the exhibits!
I'd also like to give a squawk-out to the Two Oceans Aquarium in Cape Town, South Africa, whose website and social media pages are filled with fun penguin content, including quizzes, crafts, and lots of behind the scenes videos.
How will you celebrate World Penguin Day? Myself, I think I'll cuddle up with my plush penguins and a good book.
